Founded in 1996, Mimco was born from a true passion for creativity. From handbags to jewellery, there’s detail behind every stroke; precision behind every stitch; craftsmanship behind every motif.

Sketching and designing here in the heart of Melbourne for nearly 30 years to date, we continue to honour our rich Australian heritage, empowering our customers to joyously express themselves and experiment with their unique sense of style, no matter the occasion.

1996

Where it all began: Amanda Briskin-Rettig created Mimco in 1996 in Melbourne, Australia.

2001

Mimco opens its first boutique on Chapel Street in Melbourne, and our brand is selected as the key hair accessories supplier for global cosmetic retailer Sephora.

2002

Our Panda bag features in Sex In The City.

Mimco

2004

Mimco becomes the sole Australian fashion accessories brand at David Jones. Ten concept stores are opened nationally.

2005

The Button Bag is launched and Mimco holds its first Australian Fashion Week show in Sydney starrring up and coming models Miranda Kerr and Samantha Harris.

2007

Mimco is sold to Witchery Holdings. The company is then acquired by the Country Road Group in 2012.

Mimco’s newest icon, the Turnlock, is launched as well as shoes.

A partnership with Ethical Fashion Initiative begins, helping to empower women in marginalised communities.

Mimco begins its partnership with Our Watch - an Australian not-for-profit dedicated to preventing domestic violence. More than $1 million has now been raised.

The National Gallery of Victoria and Mimco launch their first collaboration.

To commemorate our 30th birthday, we’re evolving our iconic brand heritage with the introduction of our holographic logo accent.

Inspired by Mimco’s archival chrome-finished jewellery — and the in-store fixtures, mirrors and printed collateral that echo its iridescent quality — this reimagining of our beloved logo marks an exciting new chapter in our story. Shiny hardware is an enduring element of our product, one that has cemented our role as the go-to purveyor of unique, expressive and unapologetically bold accessories in the Australian market.
